ABOUT

The Desert Financial Open, Presented by United Rentals was created to provide a first-class competitive golf tournament for touring professionals, while also raising money to support important charities in the community. The goal is to grow this event into one of the largest non-PGA TOUR affiliated tournaments in the United States.

The seventh annual tournament will take place May 15-18, 2023 at Talking Stick Golf Club.  The event will kick-off with a charity Pro-Am to benefit the Desert Financial Foundation, followed by a 54-hole professional tournament that will feature a $125,000 guaranteed purse!

Our Title Sponsor, Desert Financial Credit Union (DFCU), celebrating more than 80 years in Arizona, is the state’s largest local credit union with $8.5 billion in assets, 400,000+ members and 46 branches. Membership eligibility is open across Arizona with contactless solutions via eBranch, making it easy to call, click or come in. As a not-for-profit cooperative, DFCU takes pride in sharing success. In 2022, members received $16 million in dividends, the largest annual bonus to date, via the Member Giveback Bonus. In addition to volunteering a record-breaking 15,000 hours, DFCU gave more than $4 million to the community through corporate, foundation, and employee giving, impacting 115 non-profit organizations and 685 scholarship recipients. Through the Random Acts of Kindness program, DFCU contributed another $125,000 to three Arizona food banks for their holiday turkey drives. Desert Financial Foundation sponsors the Phoenix Children’s 1 Darn Cool School Program, which allows patients to experience a traditional classroom setting while in treatment.  The accredited teaching staff works with more than 10,000 patients each year in the hospital classroom to help keep children academically on track and alleviate any anxiety about falling behind.  The 1 Darn Cool School program provides year-round individual instruction for all students grades K-12 and even offers various art classes on Fridays known as “Fine Arts Fridays.”

Should patients not be able to leave their beds, teachers are able to visit patient rooms to provide academic assistance. Additionally, the teachers facilitate each patient's transition back to their regular learning environment once they are ready to leave the hospital.  Phoenix Children’s Hospital has the distinction of being one of only a handful of hospitals in the country that provides schooling for patients.
