The Desert Financial Open, presented by United Rentals, was created to provide a first-class competitive golf tournament for touring professionals, while also raising money to support important charities in the community. The goal is to grow this event into one of the largest non-PGA TOUR affiliated tournaments in the United States.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Desert Financial Open returns to Scottsdale's Talking Stick Golf Club from May 11-14, 2026. To commemorate a decade of excellence, this milestone event features a record-breaking guaranteed purse of $135,000, with the champion taking home $30,000. The tournament kicks off on Monday with a charity Pro-Am supporting the Desert Financial Foundation, leading into the premier 54-hole professional tournament.

The Desert Financial Foundation impacted 62 worthy students, giving an astonishing $198,000 in scholarship funds. Twenty-three Arizona non-profits focusing on education benefited from $292,500 in grant awards. Desert Financial Foundation currently provides 100% of the funding for the Phoenix Children’s 1 Darn Cool School Program, which allows patients to experience a traditional classroom setting while in treatment.  In 2025, the Desert Financial Foundation contributed $1.425 million to Phoenix Children's as part of a five year, $5 million commitment. The accredited teaching staff works with more than 10,000 patients each year in the hospital classroom to help keep children academically on track and alleviate any anxiety about falling behind.  The 1 Darn Cool School program provides year-round individual instruction for all students grades K-12 and even offers various art classes on Fridays known as “Fine Arts Fridays.” 

 

Should patients not be able to leave their beds, teachers are able to visit patient rooms to provide academic assistance. Additionally, the teachers facilitate each patient's transition back to their regular learning environment once they are ready to leave the hospital.  Phoenix Children’s Hospital has the distinction of being one of only a handful of hospitals in the country that provides schooling for patients.
