SCOTTSDALE AZ OPEN SET TO TEE IT UP MAY 22-25, 2017 AT TALKING STICK GOLF CLUB

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Tournament Director Brian Vranesh announced today that the first ever Desert Schools Federal Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open will tee it up at Talking Stick Golf Club (North Course) in Scottsdale, May 22-25, 2017. The 54-hole event will feature a field of 156 players, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. The tournament has a guaranteed purse of $125,000 – with $20,000 going to first place.

“Our mission is to provide a first-class competitive golf tournament for touring professionals, while supporting worthwhile charities in our local community,” Vranesh said. “We are excited to host this tournament in such a great golf community like Scottsdale and our goal is to grow this event into one of the largest non-PGA TOUR affiliated tournaments in the United States.”

The Scottsdale AZ Open will begin with a Pro-Am on May 22, followed by the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which will crown a champion on Thursday, May 25. Entry fees start at $795 and will go up each time 25 players have registered. The final 44 spots will be awarded through a qualifier.

“We are extremely proud to have such a great title sponsor and partner like Desert Schools Federal Credit Union and thankful that with their support we can offer a guaranteed purse of $125,000,” Vranesh said.

Vranesh is no stranger to professional golf – he has played in 20 career PGA TOUR events, 73 Web.com Tour events and a number of Gateway Tour events in Arizona.

“Brian and his team know how to host a golf tournament and how to do it the right way, and we are excited about this new partnership,” said Ron Amstutz, Executive Vice President of Desert Schools Federal Credit Union. “While hosting a top-notch golf tournament is the main goal, the tournament shares Desert Schools passion in giving back to the community and helping local charities, so this partnership was a natural fit.”

The Desert Schools Federal Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open is a three-day, 54-hole tournament that will take place May 22-25, 2017, at Talking Stick Golf Club. The tournament will feature 156 professionals vying for a guaranteed purse of $125,000, with $20,000 going to the winner. For more information visit www.scottsdaleazopen.com.
