DESERT FINANCIAL CREDIT UNION SIGNS TWO-YEAR AGREEMENT TO CONTINUE AS TITLE SPONSOR FOR SCOTTSDALE
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Tournament Director Brian Vranesh announced today that title sponsor Desert Financial Credit Union (formerly Desert Schools Federal Credit Union) has signed a new two-year agreement to be title sponsor for the Scottsdale AZ Open, which will be played May 21-24 at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale.
“Desert Financial was a great partner for our golf tournament in our first year and we are excited to have them on board for two more years to help us in our goal to grow this event into one of the largest non-PGA TOUR affiliated tournaments in the country.”
Entering its second year, the Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open features a 54-hole tournament with a field of 156 players, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. The tournament has a guaranteed purse of $125,000 – with $20,000 going to the winner. Joel Dahmen won the inaugural tournament in 2017 by two shots over Douglas Quinones and Riley Arp.
“Last year’s tournament was a great success, and we know that with the leadership group running this event, it will continue to grow, which is one of the main reasons we wanted to continue our partnership with this great golf tournament,” said Ron Amstutz, Executive Vice President of Desert Financial Credit Union. “Along with putting on a top-notch event, the tournament shares our passion for giving back to the community, so we are thrilled to be back for another two years.”
The Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open will begin with a Pro-Am on May 21, followed by the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which will crown a champion on Thursday, May 24.
