SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Tournament Director Ryan Pray confirmed today that the 2020 Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open will be played as scheduled, teeing it up May 11-14 at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale. Entering its fourth year and Presented by United Rentals, the Scottsdale AZ Open features a 54-hole tournament with a field of 156 players, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. The tournament has a guaranteed purse of $125,000 – with $20,000 going to the winner.

“We are excited that we don’t need to postpone this event and eager to get out to Talking Stick Golf Club for the fourth edition of the Scottsdale AZ Open,” Pray said. “We have been watching the Covid-19 crisis very carefully and keeping up-to-date on orders from the Governor, and we feel at this time we will be able to put on a top-notch tournament in a safe, public environment.”

The field is taking shape nicely and Pray is expecting to have the best field the Scottsdale AZ Open has ever have had, thanks to interest from local PGA TOUR players who are eager to play some competitive golf. Already committed to the 2020 Scottsdale AZ Open are two-time PGA TOUR winner Kevin Streelman and Kirk Triplett, who has recorded 11 career wins on the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions combined.

“We’ve had strong fields in the past, but we expect this to be our best yet due to the interest we have received from PGA TOUR players,” Pray said. “With the PGA TOUR starting in early June these players are looking to hone their games in a competitive environment – the Scottsdale AZ Open will be a great place for that.”

The Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open Presented by United Rentals will begin with a Pro-Am on May 11, followed by the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which will crown a champion on Thursday, May 14. For more information visit the tournament website at www.scottsdaleazopen.com.
