BRIAN URLACHER AND JOHNNY MANZIEL SCHEDULED TO PLAY IN SCOTTSDALE AZ OPEN PRO-AM AT TALKING STICK –


SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Tournament Director Ryan Pray announced today he received commitments from two high-profile athletes to play in the Headline Sports Group Pro-Am on Monday, May 11, to kick off the Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open, which will be played May 12-14 at Talking Stick Golf Club. The two players added to the Pro-Am field include Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher and 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.

Additionally, former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Shelby Miller, and Arizona Cardinals center Mason Cole also will play in the Monday Pro-Am. Tee times for the Monday Pro-Am will start at 12 p.m.

“It’s pretty cool to have these athletes participating in our Pro-Am this year,” Pray said. “We thank them for supporting our tournament, and thanks to our sponsors and friends who helped make this happen. With a great mix of celebrities and PGA TOUR players in the field this year it’s going to be a fun week at Talking Stick.”

Entering its fourth year and Presented by United Rentals, the Scottsdale AZ Open features a 54-hole tournament with a field of 162 players, with a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes. The tournament has a guaranteed purse of $130,000 – with $20,000 going to the winner.

There are a total of seven current and former PGA TOUR players in the field including Kevin Streelman (2 PGA TOUR victories), Kirk Triplett (11 combined PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions victories), Alex Cejka (1 PGA TOUR win, 11 international victories), Joel Dahmen (37th in FedEx Cup standings, 70 in Official World Golf Rankings), and Nate Lashley (2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic champion). Additionally, the tournament recently received commitments from PGA TOUR players Colt Knost and J.J. Spaun.

The Desert Financial Credit Union Scottsdale AZ Open Presented by United Rentals will begin with the Headline Sports Group Pro-Am on May 11, followed by the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which will crown a champion on Thursday, May 14.
